Operation Arbacia

Operation Arbacia is described by the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) Crime Operations Assistant Chief Constable Barbara Gray as a ‘community safety operation’, this large scale attack involved British MI5 agents, Police Scotland, an Garda Siochana, the Metropolitan Police Service and over 500 PSNI officers.

Issam Hijjawi Bassalat, Dr.

Dr. Issam Hijjawi Bassalat is a Palestinian medical doctor who has lived in Edinburgh, Scotland, since 2010. He was targeted by an MI5 infiltrator to attend a bugged meeting with members of Saoradh, an Irish republican socialist political party that advocates for an end to British colonialism and a united Ireland. He was detained on 22 August at Heathrow Airport on the same day that nine members of Saoradh were also arrested by British forces.

Ameer Makhoul

Ameer is a notable figure of the national Palestinian leadership and the international civil society as he is a human rights defender. Ameer serves as the general director of Ittijah – The Union of Arab Community Based Associations which is founded in 1995. He also serves as the Chairman of the Public Committee for the Defense of Political Freedom in the framework of the High Follow-up Committee for the Arab Citizens of Israel.

Ahmad Sa’adat (Abu Ghassan)

Ahmad is the imprisoned General Secretary of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, a Palestinian national liberation movement leader and a symbol of the international left and revolutionary movements. Ahmad is a Palestinian, Arab and international symbol of resistance to capitalism, racism, apartheid and colonization. He is the child of refugees expelled from their home in the village of Deir Tarif, near Ramleh, in 1948. A math teacher by training, he is married to Able Sa'adat, herself a noted activist, and is the father of four children.

Legal Case

Georges Ibrahim Abdallah

Georges is a Lebanese Arab struggler for Palestine, imprisoned in French prisons for decades. Georges Abdallah's case has built significant support in Lebanon and in France, and Palestinian prisoners have highlighted the importance of Abdallah's case as part of the struggle of the Palestinian political prisoners for freedom and liberation. He has always refused to in any way capitulate or renounce his political vision and commitment to the Palestinian cause, to the people of Lebanon, and to international struggles for liberation.
